I've always been a food fanatic.
I cooked for years as a crazy home chef when I worked in "the corporate world." Then one day I finally realized that cooking was truly my passion and calling. So I quit my job, sold my condo, went to culinary school, and never looked back. But it was when I traveled to Italy that my love for cooking truly blossomed and found its home. I went back to school, this time in Italy, to learn true traditional cooking from the different regions of Italy, and then I worked in a wonderful and very highly regarded restaurant near Parma.
My greatest lessons from my experience in Italy included not only those involving food and cooking, but also that family, friends, and community drew their greatest strengths from dining together, every meal, everyday.
I love simple, traditional cooking - the foods we always come back to. I love going to the farmer's market, seeing the foods that are at their best. Only a few hours picked from the fields, the white corn is so sweet and juicy, you could, and would, eat it fresh off the cob, mere seconds after buying it from the farmer. You could close your eyes and the sweet aroma of the best strawberries would tell you where they were.
I cook because I love food. I also cook because food can bring people together with family and friends. Family and friends come together to become a community. I want to enable people to enjoy good food, and to enjoy good food with the people they love.
